In 1926, 21 year old Greta Garbo nervously posed with Jackie the Lion (the roaring lion in MGM’s logo).

The bosses at MGM ordered a series of publicity shots for their newly acquired Swedish talent. However she didn’t want to do the pictures at first, so they deducted $25 (equivalent to $325 today) from her salary for her unwillingness. When she became aware of this reduction, she changed her mind and decided to do the photo shoots. This picture was part of the series done in that year.

Born today in 1905, Myrna Loy started acting in 1925. The roles she played were usually femme fatales and foreign, exotic women.

This early period in her career was mostly during the silent era, however these roles carried over a little bit into the 1930s.

The picture above is a still from The Mask of Fu Manchu (1932), in which she plays a Chinese princess.

Happy birthday Norma!

When it comes to dancing, it doesn’t get any better than Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers.

I love these two.

Paul McCartney & Wings - “Silly Love Songs”

Paul and Linda were married for 30 years, they were together until her death from breast cancer in 1998. I think they’re such a lovely couple.
